Hey all, I'm not dead, just still without the Internet. It actually works for Saul, but not for Silvia, so the two of us just haven't had it. I'm working a lot, lot more, painting, studying, etc. Tomorrow I'm going to Tianjin, a city right outside of Beijing, with some friends to see an Austrian, who I don't know, perform something before he flies back to his homeland. Vague. I'll try to be more regular, but Silvy and I have no idea how to fix our internet.

We changed our visas, which are now six month F visas, which is a business visa. It's much smaller and faker looking than the visas you get outside of China.

My new job is wonderful. I've been working for the past three weeks with a company that makes online video games called "A Perfect World." My students are all management at the company, and I really enjoy all of them. My lessons are all centered around very American cultural things like garage sales, fast food, road trips, barbecues, etc. but add lots of new sentence structure and vocabulary. The students seems to love it, but I'm worried about losing momentum. Any ideas?

Tragedy: We bought a kitten off the street, all orange and yellow. He got sick in only a few days, and when we took him to a vet with all our Chinese books, we struggled with our bad Chinese and her bad English just to get the information that he had worms and will die. We gave him medicine three times a day, and really tried, but he died yesterday in a heap near Silvia's shoe nook and we buried him with his new green turtle cat toy. I'm very sad about this. Pets don't last in Beijing.

Other highlights of the last few weeks: eating enormously delicious piles of meat, bread, tomato and potato at our fav Xinjiang place, (Arabic Chinese) watching movies, scary police stuff, hutong Chinese lessons, oatmeal with guava, local, completely exotic, fruit sold in carts around our place, skewered quail eggs with "stinky" sauce, working 9 to 5, tofu soaked in duck's blood, some improvement with my painting skill, wildflowers, Masa, surprise visits, Beijing duck, a steady subway commute, teaching fairly well behaved little monsters on Thursdays, dinner at dazhongsi, etc., etc., etc...

I'm thinking of everyone.

Hi, sorry about your kitty. Yesterday Aunt Cindy had to put Misty to sleep , after she had surgery and more cancer was found and she was'nt eating--very sad and hearbreaking...
I do not have internet yet either-my Quick connect kit was neither! and comcast is coming out tommorrow to make it work. Chad Catalina Leif and I had a Yard sale last weekend followed by a marvelous bar-b-que with Alesh and Ariel. Sold a bunch of junk and Goodwilled the rest. Cahd and Catalina have impressed us not once but TWICE with their baking prowess! On mothre's day with a mocha chocolate cake with yummy buttercream frosting and again last week with a chocolate pecan pie! Exquiste!!!!
We had Spicy Shrimp Daivolo with lemon spagetti and artichokes for dinner on Wednesday, from an Italian cooking show really good and Lief actually loved the artichoke leaves!
I have had alot of random work and spent one week from 9-12midnight out of the House. running, running around.
It is Friday and any moment Chad and Catalina will be delivering Leif for babysitting. It's date night for them.
Gram and I will be watching Running with Scissors on DVD supplied by a Robot box in Publix for $1 It's a new thing and much cheaper than other vid stores and convenient! Anyway all is fine her super hot or wickedly windy with sudden storms...oh, Rosie O'Donnell is offically off the Veiw after a huge fight with dumb ass blonde Hasselbeck...thought you would want to know...
Miss you...

Dear Mr Ross,

I'm sorry about your kitten- at least it had some love and affection before it passed. It probably had a hard life before you brought it home- poor little thing.

I will be off line in a few weeks for the summer. I want to send a package- could you please let me know if your home mailing address is the one I should use? (the package is about 2'x2'in size)

Re: your lessons- it's helpful to come up with different lessons where your students can interact and teach each other- you set up scenarios and act as a sort of conductor/teacher.
You can check out lesson plans published for other disciplines that can inspire you- check out books etc, then go with your intuition as to what will work best for you and your students.

Stay well!

Thanks all for the condolences.

Hey Dadkle! My address is the same as what's on this site and I get packages delivered to the door, so no problem.

I cant read this, it bought tears in my eyes. In this country everythings seem very fragile. A lot of peole are not being taken good care of. some other people in big city would spend money on clothings and superficial things, goverment are spending billions on olympic stadiums.who look after those people in poverty , HIV,polution?Dont even talk about animal rights etc. I dont know what olympic will bring to this country ,more positive side or negative one...

chengzhi, 橙汁,ORANGE JUICE, MAY U PEACE AND EVERYONE HERE AND IN THE WORLD.

LOVE,
MASA
